About Us
Gladstone’s local team for marine service launch operations.
Gladstone Port Services Pty. Ltd. (GPS) has been the market leader for the provision of commercial workboats in Gladstone harbour and the surrounding region since 1993.
We offer a variety of workboats tailored to different roles. Our day to day regular demand is for the delivery of ships’ mooring lines from ship to shore upon the berthing of ships at the 20+ berths in Gladstone harbour and the business also offers a range of service launches that are suited to a wide range of other commercial applications.
GPS has always adopted the attitude that we are here to solve problems, not create them. This approach has created healthy working relationships with a very diverse range of parties over a wide variety of projects, including government departments, scientific and educational institutions, light and heavy industry and private contractors.
Our core team of managers, administrators and operational crew are all locals who don’t just work on the Curtis coast but live it. As the longest operating business of its kind in the Gladstone port, we have unmatched navigational and operational knowledge and experience. Our masters and crew are all trained not just for compliance but to have genuine competency and the confidence to deal with the unexpected.
We know that the bottom line for all of our clients is getting the job done safely at the right price, and that is what we offer. Our rates have always been competitive and remain so because our quotes are accurately tailored to the needs of the project with no extraneous costs. We remain committed to upholding the values and reputation we’ve established over our long history, and we continue to evolve to meet and exceed the needs of our clients.
The delivery of ships’ mooring lines comprises the core of our business, and requires a very high level of skill from masters and crew.
These engagements are all hours, all weather work with very precise manoeuvring in tight situations. Crew must maintain awareness of lines in the water, tug and ship wash and changing conditions, all while coordinating with the pilot’s directions and the ship and wharf crew.
This demanding environment instills vigilance and adaptability, which we bring to all other work we take on. As such our operational success and safety record are exceptional, with no major incidents in our entire 30+ years of operation.
